Béliard: ‘impressionist’ exposition 1874

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Edouard Béliard

(1832-1912)

An impression of his pictures at the

1st ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1874

What pictures did Béliard show at the 1st ‘impressionist’ exposition?
It is unknown which pictures Edouard Béliard exhibited at the ‘1st impressionist’ expositions. He showed 4 paintings (catalogue numbers 13-16). None of these works were described and there are just a few pictures known of Béliard, so positive identification is impossible. Still, I will render very uncertain suggestions, or even works of other artists to compare, so you wil have some impression of the works he exhibited. See link for an account and for the subscriptions. See for the used sources at the bottom of the main page on Edouard Béliard. Note: If you double click on the first picture and then click on full screen, you can create a small slideshow. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!
