Béliard: ‘impressionist’ exposition 1876

Impressionism, a historical reconstruction:

Edouard Béliard

(1832-1912)

An impression of his pictures at the

2nd ‘impressionist’ exposition in 1876

What pictures did Debras show at the 2nd ‘impressionist’ exposition?
It is unknown which pictures Edouard Béliard exhibited at the ‘2nd impressionist’ expositions. He showed 8 paintings (catalogue numbers 1-8). None of these works were clearly described and there are just a few pictures known of Béliard, so positive identification is impossible. Still, I will render very uncertain suggestions, or even works of other artists to compare, so you wil have some impression of the works he exhibited. For no.1 I render 4 very uncertain options. See link for an account and for the subscriptions. See for the used sources at the bottom of the main page on Edouard Béliard. Note: If you double click on the first picture and then click on full screen, you can create a slideshow. On a smartphone or laptop you can also zoom in. Enjoy!
